In this lesson, you'll explore how Azure Service Health can help you manage the health and status of your Azure resources and the broader Azure infrastructure.
Microsoft Azure offers a comprehensive global cloud solution that supports your infrastructure needs, customer engagement, innovation, and rapid adaptation. Monitoring the status of your global Azure infrastructure and individual resources might seem overwhelming. However, Azure Service Health simplifies this by combining three distinct Azure services: Azure Status, Service Health, and Resource Health.
Azure Status
Azure Status provides a broad overview of the global status of Azure. It informs you about service outages across all Azure services and regions. Accessible on the Azure Status page, it serves as a reference point for incidents with widespread impact. This global perspective helps you understand if there are major issues affecting Azure services that might indirectly impact your resources.
Service Health
Service Health offers a more focused view, concentrating on the Azure services and regions you specifically use. It is the go-to place for service-impacting communications, including outages, planned maintenance, and other health advisories. The authenticated Service Health experience tailors the information to the services and resources you currently utilize. Additionally, you can set up Service Health alerts to notify you about service issues, maintenance, or changes that may affect your services and regions.
Resource Health
Resource Health provides detailed information about the health of your individual Azure resources, such as virtual machine instances. By using Azure Monitor, you can configure alerts to notify you of any availability changes to your cloud resources. This personalized view helps you stay informed about the status and health of specific resources you have deployed in Azure.
Comprehensive Monitoring with Azure Service Health
By integrating Azure Status, Service Health, and Resource Health, Azure Service Health gives you a complete picture of your Azure environment—from the global status of Azure services and regions to the specific health of individual resources. This comprehensive monitoring capability ensures you are well-informed about any issues that might affect your Azure resources.
Historical Alerts and Support
Azure Service Health also stores historical alerts, allowing you to review and investigate past issues. This historical data is valuable for identifying trends and resolving recurring problems. In the event that an issue impacts your workload, Azure Service Health provides links to support, helping you quickly access assistance to mitigate the impact on your services.
