In this lesson, we will go through the steps on how to Create a Licensing Group in your Microsoft 365 tenant.
Step 1: Access Azure Active Directory
- On your browser, login to Microsoft 365 Admin Portal via https://portal.office.com
- On the Sign in page, enter your Global Admin username in an email format and then enter your password on the Enter password page. Select Sign in.
- On the Stay signed in? window, select the Don’t show this again check box and then select Yes.
- In the Office 365 home page, in the column of Microsoft 365 app icons on the left-side of the screen, select the Admin icon to navigate to the Microsoft 365 admin center. This will open in a new tab.
5. From the Microsoft 365 Admin center page, navigate to the left column for the admin menus. Click Show all.
6. Under the Admin Centers menu, click on Azure Active Directory, and a new tab will open.
Step 2: Create a Security Group
- Under the Azure Active Directory admin center, click on Azure Active Directory.
2. On the Azure Active Directory dashboard, Under the Manage menu, select Groups , and then click New Group.
3. On the New Group page:
a. Under Group Type, select Security.
b. Enter your preferred Group Name, Group Description is optional.
c. Under Membership Type, choose Assigned.
4. Click Create.
5. If the Group was successfully created, a notification will appear on the upper right corner of the page.
Step 3: Assign license/s to a Security Group.
- Under the Azure Active Directory admin center, click on Azure Active Directory.
- On the Azure Active Directory dashboard, Under the Manage menu, select Licenses.
3. On the Licenses page, under Manage, select All Products.
4. Select the license/s that you’d like to add to your Security Group, then click Assign
5. On the Assign License page, under the Users and groups tab, click on Add Users and Groups
6. Click on the Security Group/s that you’d like to assign the licenses to, and click on Select.
7. Once done, click on Review + Assign
8. On the Review + Assign tab, confirm that all the information is correct, then click on Assign.
